This is what I do

Dr Sabina Brennan, dementia researcher

Irun the Neil (neuro-enhancement for independent living) programme at Trinity College Dublin. It conducts research and develops interventions to delay dementia, improve cognitive function and enable independent living. Finding a cure for the condition is looking unlikely, so our research is focusing on trying to prevent and delay the onslaught and the progression. It’s all about allowing people to live independently for as long as possible.

In 2004, I started studying psychology at Trinity and before that I was an actress. I played Tess Halpin on Fair City, so I was Damien Halpin’s mother. I was supposed to be part of the soap for just six weeks, but I ended up being in about 160 episodes over a few years.

I played a battered wife.
